The West Central Alabama Area Health Education Center (AHEC), in partnership with Chu Clinic, academic partners, and the Marengo County Economic Development Authority, is implemented the Primary Care Employment Training Program during the 2016-2017 school. Six Demopolis High School Seniors were chosen to participate in an apprenticeship program. Each of these students has an interest in pursing a career in health care. During the program, they had an opportunity to experience both administrative and clinical aspects involved in rural primary care and earned a combined 600 apprenticeship hours. They will be attending the University of South Alabama, The University of West Alabama and the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
